Coastal Scents 28 Neutral Palette Swatches and mini-Review!

Hello my little Lovies!

Alright, I've been really busy lately trying to get ready for the arrival of my 2nd child (A little girl!!!) so I haven't had much time to review new products. However, I am going to do a mini-review on the Coastal Scents 28 Neutral Palette and let you all know how I truly feel about this item, If your interested, keep on reading!

(Swatches available soon)

Overview: This is a 28 piece palette made up of all warm neutral colors. The individual pans are around the size of a quarter and the palette itself is about the same size in comparison to a net book. The Coastal Scents logo is both written on the front and back of the packaging as well as the palette description and the CS web address. There is a mixture of Matte, Shimmer, and Glitter finishes.

My Rating:

Packaging: 4/5 - Looks kinda tacky and feels flimsy

Versatility: 5/5- This palette is made to be useful to anyone with any skin tone and eye/hair color. It's perfect for creating the everyday look.
Quality: 5/5- Again, Coastal Scents has the quality thing pretty locked down when it comes to value and price. The shadows are not chalky and there is minimal fallout. They apply with the same depth you see in the pan and are blend able. All the things I look for in the quality of an eyeshadow, this palette has it!

Value: 5/5- This palette is a absolute steal. Your getting 28 different neutral toned eye shadows for $18.95 usd. (Can be purchased here)Not to mention each individual pan is almost the equivalent in size to mac shadows. Break that down and your only paying $.68 per pan!! That's way less than any drugstore product and the quality is much better than anything you would find in a drugstore anyway.

Overall Thoughts: I love this palette! I have used it pretty much everyday and will be buying a back-up or two just so I don't have to worry about it running out. This is by far my favorite e/s palette from CS just because it is so versatile for everyday. If you have been debating on getting this product, you should just go for it. I mean at $.68 each you'll never find a comparable product. Personally, It's my favorite palette EVER. I also find it is a good alternative for those of you who have been dying to get your hands on the Naked palette but just don't have the funds to make the purchase.

Would I re-purchase: I kind of already answered this one, but YES YES YES! This is the best deal I have found on any makeup product. The fact that I will use it almost everyday and know that I will be getting my money's worth makes me so happy and warm inside. I hate to purchase an item only to let it sit in a drawer and basically rot until it expires. That will never be an issue with this one. Total SCORE!

Recap: This product scores an overall 19/20 with only 1 pt being deducted for poor packaging. All in all, price vs quality and value is phenomenal. You just won't find a better deal.

Coastal Scents Winterberry Palette Review

As you all can probably tell I have a little addiction to Coastal Scents products. Below you will find my thoughts and opinions on the Winterberry Palette from their 12 shadow palette collection. Each of the pans in this palette are called Hot Pots and can also be purchased separately if desired.

(Swatches Available Here!)

Overview: This particular palette is compiled of 12 individual eyeshadow pans (Hot Pots) which can be removed and or replaced from the compact itself. The shades vary over a assortment of pinks and purples and are inspired by the kinds of berries you would find in the winter weather. Hence, the name Winterberry. All of the colors in this palette are shimmery. Each pan is about the size of a quarter and the compact is a little bigger then the size of my hand. The palette is magnetized and includes a full size mirror. It will include the Coastal Scents logo printed on the front as well as the palette name and the web address is printed on the back.

My Rating:

Packaging: 5/5
I actually feel the packaging of this product is pretty convenient. It's very small and sleek making storage pretty easy. I also love that the mirror is full sized and the pans are magnetized so they can be removed (There is a slight lip on each of the pot holders making removal pretty effortless). The magnets are pretty strong so you wouldn't really have to worry about them falling out during travel. The casing also seems pretty durable as well so unless it was dropped several times, I don't think breakage would be a problem.

Versatility: 4/5
While the colors in this palette are gorgeous and would work well with any skin tone, I deduct a point for a lack of any matte shadows. While some people may not find that as a downfall, I do. I also noticed that there isn't any shades that could be used as a good highlight for my skin. This would make it necessary to bring along other shadows when traveling. To me, this makes this palette a little less versatile than some others I've worked with. However, where the palette is lacking in matte and highlight colors, it certainly is making up for in unique-ness (not sure that's even a word, lol). Alot of the shades in this palette would be hard to dupe against anything else at least from what I've tried. I also loved that there is so much variation between the shades making it easy to go from a subtle to dramatic look without having to start from scratch every time.

Quality: 5/5
Coastal Scents pretty much has the quality of all their products in the bag. As far a this particular product is concerned, I certainly wasn't left disappointed. All of the pans are highly pigmented so you will find that the color transfer is pretty on point. However, that is not to say you won't be able to create a light application. As long as you use the right techniques and correct brush, creating a barely there look is totally possible. I also was pretty pleased to see that there wasn't any problem with chalkiness or blend ability (that I came across). Everything just applied so smoothly and there was very little to no fallout out. All in all, I was really impressed with this one!

Price: 5/5
This is one of those things that Coastal Scents is known for. At a price of $21.95 usd. (Click here to purchase) it just can't be beat. If you break down the math on that, you are getting each pan for $1.82 usd and that's not even factoring in the compact. I believe these shadows to be some of the best quality I have used and would be willing to pay much more than what is being charged. This is a total steal for anyone weather your pockets are big or small.

Overall thoughts:
This palette was a huge surprise when I received it. I went back and forth a million times trying to decide if I really wanted it but I am so glad that I finally gave in. The colors are undoubtedly gorgeous and the quality is so much better than I had ever expected. This is an absolute must have!

Would I buy again: Absolutely! I love this palette so much that I plan to repurchase and replace the individual hot pots as soon as I hit pan. Even tho, with the amount of product you receive, I don't think  that will be anytime soon.

Recap: Overall this palette scores a 19/20.. With versatility being the area a point was deducted I'd say this one is an absolute must buy for anyone looking to expand their collection no matter what skin tone eye or hair color you have, this palette will suit just about anyone looking to create any purple inspired look.

Coastal Scents 88 Mirage Palette

Coastal Scents 88 Mirage Palette

Okay Ladies,

I have to admit that I am the epitome of what you would call an "Eyeshadow Whore". Some girls love their lip gloss and others; their blush, me on the other hand, I am completely addicted to eyeshadow. I wouldn't really say I have a preference to any particular colors or brands. Since their are soo many to choose from, how could I just stick to one?  In any case, I wanted to do a review on the Mirage Palette from Coastal Scents. Since this is a pretty new addition to their line of 88 palettes, I figured there would be a lot of people searching for it..so, let's get started.
(Swatches Available Here!)

Overview:
First and foremost, the palette itself is compiled of 88 jewel tone shadows. The colors range from True Gold to Plum and  includes a vast selection of Deep Browns, Dusty Roses, Rusty Reds, Burnt Oranges, Aqua Blues, and Forrest Greens. There is a nice mixture of matte, shimmer, glitter, and frost finishes. Each individual pot is a little smaller than a dime in circumference and the palette in whole is about the size of a net book or ipad. The case is matte black with the Coastal Scents logo, the palette name and description printed on the front and the CS web address inscribed on the back. It includes a small      mirror and 2 double ended sponge tip applicators.

 My Rating:
Packaging: 4/5
The case is very sleek and lightweight which makes storage a huge relief. It also stood up during shipment, so I can't say it doesn't travel well. (Just make sure to use lots of cushion) . It does, however, feel slightly cheap  so I'm not sure how many drops it could withstand and the large logo on the front looks a little tacky.

Versatility: 5/5
This palette is great for creating a ton of different full eye looks without the need to touch another palette. There is a great mix shimmer, matte, frost, and glittery finishes. The colors (so gorgeous) range from light to dark making it easy to find the perfect compliments for lid, inner corner, outer corner, crease, and highlight all in one package! It will work/look great on any skin tone and/or eye color (especially green and brown eyes).

Quality: 5/5
The pigmentation of these shadows is crazy ridiculous (in a good way). Nearly all of the colors in this palette apply to the lid with the same depth and concentration as you see in the pan. That is almost unheard of when it comes to these larger 88 palettes. I also found they were super smooth didn't require much effort at all to blend.

Price: 5/5
I purchased my palette for $21.95 usd during the release special. It is now being sold for 24.95 and can be purchased here. For the amount of product and the quality alone, this product is an absolute steal!

Thoughts Overall:
This palette is definitely a must have addition to any makeup collection. The versatility in the shade and hue of each color make the possibilities almost endless! I also believe that this palette is suited for almost any skin tone and/or eye color. As far as pigmentation and color payoff, the Mirage has seriously got it. Most of the colors only require a very small amount of product with a payoff that looks as if you packed it on for hours. With that said, I'd be lying not to acknowledge that there are a few (mostly the glittery shadows) that are just well, mediocre. There didn't seem to be much transfer from pan to lid and there is some fallout. I do believe however, if you have some time and patience you could make these work just as well. Moving on, I found the blend ability of this palette to meet and in some cases exceed my expectations. With the exception of the afore mentioned few (and I mean very few) these shadows were so easy to work with. When creating looks from subtle to dramatic , I loved how easily I could pull it off without really having to work too hard. Huge stand out for me! There is absolutely nothing worse than a beautiful shadow you have to blend to death. Luckily, I did not have that problem with any of colors here. All in all, This palette is a great buy for those who are looking to add a little depth to their collections (and those who just can't have enough shadow). The colors are gorgeous, the pigmentation is remarkable and they blend with ease. Honestly, I was more than happy with this purchase. The fact that you can keep it simple or go completely dramatic without sacrificing price or quality wins this palette 5 stars from me.

Would I buy again:
Absolutely. Although, I don't think I will have to for a very long time : ]
