Orginally he surprised me with a box of the most delicious strawberrys ever. He also got me a couple magazines and 2 little charm bracelettes Then he gave me a gift card so I could pick out the rest of the things I wanted my self. There are pictures above of all the stuff I hauled, minus an outfit since its in the dirty clothes, lol..But, If you guys would like me to do a review on any of the items, let me know. P.S. I added a few picture of my kids since they are the reason my husband spoiled me so much. Hope you all enjoy.
However, I am going to do a mini-review on the Coastal Scents 28 Neutral Palette and let you all know how I truly feel about this item, If your interested, keep on reading!

The individual pans are around the size of a quarter and the palette itself is about the same size in comparison to a net book. The Coastal Scents logo is both written on the front and back of the packaging as well as the palette description and the CS web address. There is a mixture of Matte, Shimmer, and Glitter finishes.

My Rating:

Packaging: 4/5 - Looks kinda tacky and feels flimsy

Versatility: 5/5- This palette is made to be useful to anyone with any skin tone and eye/hair color. It's perfect for creating the everyday look.
Quality: 5/5- Again, Coastal Scents has the quality thing pretty locked down when it comes to value and price. The shadows are not chalky and there is minimal fallout. They apply with the same depth you see in the pan and are blend able. All the things I look for in the quality of an eyeshadow, this palette has it!

Your getting 28 different neutral toned eye shadows for $18.95 usd. (Can be purchased here)Not to mention each individual pan is almost the equivalent in size to mac shadows. Break that down and your only paying $.68 per pan!! That's way less than any drugstore product and the quality is much better than anything you would find in a drugstore anyway.

I have used it pretty much everyday and will be buying a back-up or two just so I don't have to worry about it running out. This is by far my favorite e/s palette from CS just because it is so versatile for everyday. If you have been debating on getting this product, you should just go for it. I mean at $.68 each you'll never find a comparable product. Personally, It's my favorite palette EVER. I also find it is a good alternative for those of you who have been dying to get your hands on the Naked palette but just don't have the funds to make the purchase.

Would I re-purchase: I kind of already answered this one, but YES YES YES! This is the best deal I have found on any makeup product. The fact that I will use it almost everyday and know that I will be getting my money's worth makes me so happy and warm inside. I hate to purchase an item only to let it sit in a drawer and basically rot until it expires. That will never be an issue with this one. Total SCORE!

Recap: This product scores an overall 19/20 with only 1 pt being deducted for poor packaging. All in all, price vs quality and value is phenomenal. You just won't find a better deal.
I haven't ever used these products before so expect individual reviews soon.
Alright girls,

How many of us have secretly wished to change something about the dimension our faces? I know I sure have. Contouring, like highlighting, is a quick, worry free, and best of all, surgery free way to get it done. Below you will find information how to contour your face the right way (without looking or feeling cake-y or orange). The most important thing to remember here is to keep it light. You don't want to end up looking like you grew facial hair or even worse, had a really bad spray tan.

Just as with highlighting, technique is key. A little product goes a long way and you want to make sure that your only darkening the area's that are naturally a little darker. The point of doing this is to "fake" the appearance of shadows, creating more depth in places where the sun does not normally hit. This will build a much more sculpted look to your bone structure and in turn, completely slim and transform the dimensions of your face.

I have included a face chart for reference. Please understand graph is not in anyway a representation of how the makeup should look or be applied. Everone's face is different. This chart is not to scale, angels etc. will vary depending upon face shape. This is simply used to show the area's of the face discussed here-in. If you still have any questions/suggestions please feel free to post below. I do not own the rights to the chart. You can find a copy here.

Typical Area's to Contour
Where is this? This would be the area between your jawline and cheekbone. (Suck in your cheeks like a fish, to find this area)
My thoughts: Personally, I find this to be the most crucial place to contour and unless you already have very pronounced features (i.e. sharp jawline, high cheekbones) this should be the area to focus.
You can use the indent on your nostrils as a point of reference. You would bring each of the lines from the very top of the nose and connect them under the tip of the ball (in the middle of your nostrils)

My thoughts: This part of the process is by all means optional and is used only to create a slimming effect of the nose in whole. If you already have a pretty petite nose or prefer it's natural size, than I'd say skip this step all together. However, if you do prefer for your nose to appear slightly smaller this would be a perfect way to achieve it.

If you already have a very pronounced jawline I would recommend straying away from adding any additional shadow here. It will only add more depth and make the jaw appear more angular. For those of you wanting to add some dimension to an understated jawline, this is the perfect way to do it. Shading here adds depth and definition under the chin. It will instantly add a jawline where one may have originally lacked.

Take a matte facial powder or non shimmery bronzer of your choice that is approximately 3 shades darker than your natural skin tone. (I know, sounds scary but just trust) suck in your cheeks to find the area, apply a very small amount of powder to some sort of blush brush (preferably angled). Remember, you can always add more later if need be, it's much harder to remove than to add!!! Draw a thin line from the bottom of the hollow to the top and stop where your cheekbone begins. You want to make sure you are drawing in a diagonal motion keeping in conjunction with the shape of your face. Once you have your line applied, begin to buff it in. Blend upward towards your temples and onto the sides of the forehead. Keep the powder as close to your hairline as possible. You only want to build an outline. Continue blending (Blend, Blend, Blend!!!) in this same pattern until the powder is almost unnoticeable. You should now have see a slight change in the Height and width of your cheeks and forehead.

Nose: Draw a thin line down each side of the nose (along the bridge, using the place where your nostrils indent as a reference point). Using a small taper brush of some sort works best here. Bring the line underneath the tip of the nostrils and connect in the very middle. Now, you just need to buff the lines in until they are barely visible. The key is to create an illusion of structure without it being noticeable to anyone else.

Jawline: Use a fluffy blush brush or kabuki brush to buff powder under the chin and on both sides under the jawline but keep the concentration of color at the very edges here. Blend back and inward toward your throat. Remember to use minimal amount of product necessary otherwise, it will come off as if you've grown a beard overnight. Not at all flattering for anyone!
The shades vary over a assortment of pinks and purples and are inspired by the kinds of berries you would find in the winter weather. Hence, the name Winterberry. All of the colors in this palette are shimmery. Each pan is about the size of a quarter and the compact is a little bigger then the size of my hand. The palette is magnetized and includes a full size mirror. It will include the Coastal Scents logo printed on the front as well as the palette name and the web address is printed on the back.

It's very small and sleek making storage pretty easy. I also love that the mirror is full sized and the pans are magnetized so they can be removed (There is a slight lip on each of the pot holders making removal pretty effortless). The magnets are pretty strong so you wouldn't really have to worry about them falling out during travel. The casing also seems pretty durable as well so unless it was dropped several times, I don't think breakage would be a problem.

Versatility: 4/5

While the colors in this palette are gorgeous and would work well with any skin tone, I deduct a point for a lack of any matte shadows. While some people may not find that as a downfall, I do. I also noticed that there isn't any shades that could be used as a good highlight for my skin. This would make it necessary to bring along other shadows when traveling. To me, this makes this palette a little less versatile than some others I've worked with. However, where the palette is lacking in matte and highlight colors, it certainly is making up for in unique-ness (not sure that's even a word, lol). Alot of the shades in this palette would be hard to dupe against anything else at least from what I've tried. I also loved that there is so much variation between the shades making it easy to go from a subtle to dramatic look without having to start from scratch every time.

As far a this particular product is concerned, I certainly wasn't left disappointed. All of the pans are highly pigmented so you will find that the color transfer is pretty on point. However, that is not to say you won't be able to create a light application. As long as you use the right techniques and correct brush, creating a barely there look is totally possible. I also was pretty pleased to see that there wasn't any problem with chalkiness or blend ability (that I came across). Everything just applied so smoothly and there was very little to no fallout out. All in all, I was really impressed with this one!

At a price of $21.95 usd. (Click here to purchase) it just can't be beat. If you break down the math on that, you are getting each pan for $1.82 usd and that's not even factoring in the compact. I believe these shadows to be some of the best quality I have used and would be willing to pay much more than what is being charged. This is a total steal for anyone weather your pockets are big or small.

This palette was a huge surprise when I received it. I went back and forth a million times trying to decide if I really wanted it but I am so glad that I finally gave in. The colors are undoubtedly gorgeous and the quality is so much better than I had ever expected. This is an absolute must have!

Would I buy again: Absolutely! I love this palette so much that I plan to repurchase and replace the individual hot pots as soon as I hit pan. Even tho, with the amount of product you receive, I don't think that will be anytime soon.

Recap: Overall this palette scores a 19/20.. With versatility being the area a point was deducted I'd say this one is an absolute must buy for anyone looking to expand their collection no matter what skin tone eye or hair color you have, this palette will suit just about anyone looking to create any purple inspired look.

So yesterday I went on a little adventure to the outlet mall with my husband and son and guess what I finally came across? A CCO!!! Finally! I have been searching for one of these stores since I first heard of them but never found one until now. In anycase, I picked up a few things from MAC while I was there and let me tell you. The prices were amazing! Below is a list of the things I picked up as well as some pictures. Since this is my first ever MAC purchase as well (I refuse to buy MAC at retail prices!) I will also provide individual reviews in the future.
Thoughts??Okay,

I have an idea to slightly change the way I do my reviews, you know, the format of how I critique products? I have been contemplating a MORE effective yet informative way to get my opinion out there without so much rambling and useless information involved. However, I don't want to fix something if it's not really broken. So instead of just changing things around, I thought I would give you guys and opportunity to let me know what you think. I am completely open to constructive criticism and suggestions on this I could add or get rid of. Thanks in advance. I appreciate any and all feedback.

I know a lot of you have been curious about Wet and Wilds' new Color Icon 8 pan palettes. I believe there are a total of 3 different palettes in greens (Comfort Zone), purples (Petal-Pusher), and blues (I got good Jeans). While I have not yet purchased all three palettes, I am a sucker for anything purple so you already know I had to have the Petal Pusher palette. Below you will find my thoughts on everything from packaging to quality and value. Please feel free to let me know what you all think about this palette too.

Overview: These little palettes consist of 8 different shadows all coordinated by color and showcase a multitude of different shades and tones. You will also find that there is a mixture between frost, shimmer and glitter finishes for those of you who like a little variation. The Petal-Pusher palette in particular, consists of a few different shades of purple and pink with a touch of deep plum and mauve. Each individual pan is full size (consistent with Wet and Wild shadow sizes) and is package in a slender plastic compact. It also includes two small brushes for application.
While the plastic compact does look and feel a little cheap, I actually was impressed with the way it stood up to dropping (I dropped it several times in the store alone). None of the pans became loose and the shadows themselves were completely unharmed. Also, I was pretty happy with the size of the case as well. It's pretty slender which makes storage easy and thoughtless. I can pretty much throw this thing anywhere.

Versatility: 5/5
I believe this is pretty much formulated to be worn by any skin tone or eye color. Whether your eyes are brown, blue, hazel, or green, these colors will most certainly make them pop. I also love how they indicate ways to wear the colors, as well as, enough range to create two predetermined looks. For those of us who are s little more seasoned, the idea's will just keep on coming

Quality: 2/5
Some of the shadows in this palette were a tad chalky and difficult to blend. There was some fallout with the glitter shades and transfer proved to be an issue with one color in particular. I noticed right away when swatching some pans, it took more than a few swipes to get the payoff I was looking for, but, with that said, they were definitely buildable (which made up for it). I wouldn't say pigmentation was a problem because I only had issue with a few of the colors. I also liked that there were multiple shades and hues of each color and there were suggestions on how to use them. However, the best part was that I found a duo-chrome in this palette! Yes, a duo-chrome, and not just any old duo-chrome shadow. The color is super unique. This for me, completely null and voided any problems I originally found :]

Price: 5/5

These palettes run for around $5.99 usd and can be found at your local Walgreens and/or Walmart stores. Personally, I think that for the amount of money your spending you are getting pretty good quality. I wouldn't go as far a saying your getting a spectacular deal but eight decent quality shadows for five bucks is pretty impressive, even for drugstore prices. Not to mention the fact that there is a duo-chrome. That alone is worth more the cost of the palette itself.

With all of the positive reviews I read and beautiful swatches I saw, I guess you could say my expectations were a little high. I found that some of the colors were not quite as pigmented as I hoped and others seemed ridiculously chalky. I also found that the glitter in the darker colors had some fallout and were a little harder to blend than the rest. On the other side of the spectrum tho, there were a few great things that stood out. First of all, there is a duo-chrome in this palette, which was a huge surprise. You just don't find that in drugstore brand eye shadows at all. Wet and Wild definitely won me over with that one. I also loved that each side of the palette is coordinated to work together making it easy to create looks for both beginners and professionals alike. The fact that the less pigmented shadows were buildable kind of made me forget about the fact that there were some chalky ones. I mean for 5 bucks, you really can't expect MAC quality anyway, but, for what I paid, I guess you could say I am pretty satisfied.

Would I buy again: Only for the one duo-chrome shade. I didn't find any of the other colors to be unusually unique and I was a little turned off by the glitter pans. However, I will definitely be giving the green palette a go here soon. So, keep on the look out for that one.

Recap: Overall, this palette scores a 17/20. If your a beginner or just like purples and are a budget shopper, I think this palette would be a great addition for you. You get alot of product for a small price and the quality is up to par with what you should expect from a drugstore brand.
How do you prefer to wear yours?Ladies!

Fashion is one of those things that can pretty much go either way. Every person has their own idea of what's hot and what's not and that my friends is part of the beauty of it. We can all choose to be as wild and funky or as understated and conservative as we want to be. It's all about creativity!

However, There is one thing that keeps coming back no matter how many times we all swear off adding them to our wardrobe. I'm talking about Skinny Jeans people! Especially this past winter. I've taken notice that pretty much any apparel store I enter, these things are right there staring me in the face. Now, I would definately admit while wearing them the right way can be super flattering, wearing them the wrong way can lead to complete fashion disasters!

Alright my fellow beauty junkies,
CoverGirl cosmetics just released a new lip product and I had to grab a few and test em out. It's called Lip perfection lipstick (you can find more info here) The product claims to enhance the moisture levels of your lips in just 7 days, giving you naturally softer, and smoother lips. Now you know, hearing such a dramatic claim like that, I had to put it to the test (especially since I suffer from habitually dry lips). Stay tuned to see if it makes it on my must grab list.
Let me know what you think!

I have to admit that I am the epitome of what you would call an "Eyeshadow Whore". Some girls love their lip gloss and others; their blush, me on the other hand, I am completely addicted to eyeshadow. I wouldn't really say I have a preference to any particular colors or brands. Since their are soo many to choose from, how could I just stick to one? In any case, I wanted to do a review on the Mirage Palette from Coastal Scents. Since this is a pretty new addition to their line of 88 palettes, I figured there would be a lot of people searching for it..so, let's get started.

(Swatches Available Here!)

Overview:

First and foremost, the palette itself is compiled of 88 jewel tone shadows. The colors range from True Gold to Plum and includes a vast selection of Deep Browns, Dusty Roses, Rusty Reds, Burnt Oranges, Aqua Blues, and Forrest Greens. There is a nice mixture of matte, shimmer, glitter, and frost finishes. Each individual pot is a little smaller than a dime in circumference and the palette in whole is about the size of a net book or ipad. The case is matte black with the Coastal Scents logo, the palette name and description printed on the front and the CS web address inscribed on the back. It includes a small mirror and 2 double ended sponge tip applicators.

My Rating:
Packaging: 4/5

The case is very sleek and lightweight which makes storage a huge relief. It also stood up during shipment, so I can't say it doesn't travel well. (Just make sure to use lots of cushion) . It does, however, feel slightly cheap so I'm not sure how many drops it could withstand and the large logo on the front looks a little tacky.

Versatility: 5/5

This palette is great for creating a ton of different full eye looks without the need to touch another palette. There is a great mix shimmer, matte, frost, and glittery finishes. The colors (so gorgeous) range from light to dark making it easy to find the perfect compliments for lid, inner corner, outer corner, crease, and highlight all in one package! It will work/look great on any skin tone and/or eye color (especially green and brown eyes).

Quality: 5/5

The pigmentation of these shadows is crazy ridiculous (in a good way). Nearly all of the colors in this palette apply to the lid with the same depth and concentration as you see in the pan. That is almost unheard of when it comes to these larger 88 palettes. I also found they were super smooth didn't require much effort at all to blend.

Price: 5/5

I purchased my palette for $21.95 usd during the release special. It is now being sold for 24.95 and can be purchased here. For the amount of product and the quality alone, this product is an absolute steal!

Thoughts Overall:
This palette is definitely a must have addition to any makeup collection. The versatility in the shade and hue of each color make the possibilities almost endless! I also believe that this palette is suited for almost any skin tone and/or eye color. As far as pigmentation and color payoff, the Mirage has seriously got it. Most of the colors only require a very small amount of product with a payoff that looks as if you packed it on for hours. With that said, I'd be lying not to acknowledge that there are a few (mostly the glittery shadows) that are just well, mediocre. There didn't seem to be much transfer from pan to lid and there is some fallout. I do believe however, if you have some time and patience you could make these work just as well. Moving on, I found the blend ability of this palette to meet and in some cases exceed my expectations. With the exception of the afore mentioned few (and I mean very few) these shadows were so easy to work with. When creating looks from subtle to dramatic , I loved how easily I could pull it off without really having to work too hard. Huge stand out for me! There is absolutely nothing worse than a beautiful shadow you have to blend to death. Luckily, I did not have that problem with any of colors here. All in all, This palette is a great buy for those who are looking to add a little depth to their collections (and those who just can't have enough shadow). The colors are gorgeous, the pigmentation is remarkable and they blend with ease. Honestly, I was more than happy with this purchase. The fact that you can keep it simple or go completely dramatic without sacrificing price or quality wins this palette 5 stars from me.

Would I buy again:
Absolutely. Although, I don't think I will have to for a very long time : ]

I figured that since this is my first ever post, why not give my readers the run down of my all time favorite makeup application tip. So without further adue, lets get straight to it.

Highlighting/Illuminating (in my opinion) is a must do for every full face makeup application. It can accentuate and enhance some of our most beautiful features and it can even slightly change the dimension of some of our less flattering too. If done correctly, it can produce such suddle yet amazing effects that you will never again forget it's importance.

Sadly, Highlighters/Illuminaters are a product that is all too often left out of makeup bags of both the younger and older alike. Without knowing the awesome benefits that it provides, It's easy for women to skip over when replenishing their makeup kits. This could for some, be the most important item in your collection you just haven't quite discovered yet. As the saying goes "ignorance is bliss" so, I'm about to break down all the advantages (and sometimes disadvantages) that may come along for the ride.

The most important thing I can't stress enough is be careful!! You can definitely over dose in highlighter and girls, let me tell you, it ain't cute! The trick is to use a very small amount of product, a light hand, and only highlighting the area's that you want accentuated. Technique is key when attempting to enhance any features. You do not want to end up appearing oily or overly shiny. Try to think of it this way, when you highlight an excerpt from a document, it in turn, stands out from the rest of the script. This makes it easier to pick out the particular point or area you wanted to focus on. The same applies to your face.

Now for the really informative stuff!

Typical area's of application

Upper Forehead - The space between your brows and hairline, in alignment with the bridge of your nose.

Opinion: This area is completely optional and deciding to highlight is at ones own discretion. However, it can be the perfect canvas for those who find their forehead is a little more wide than the rest of the face. Highlighting will draw attention to the center making it appear smaller. Those who find that they tend to get a little more oily in this area should stray away from adding any type of shimmer or shine. This can make the skin appear greasy.

Brow Bone - Highest point directly beneath the brow bone (arch)

Opinion: Highlighting this area again works well for all skin tones and brow shapes. It makes the arch appear slightly raised making the eyes seem brighter. Rule of thumb: keep the highlight color close to your skin tone and only use shimmery products when seeking extra pi-zaz. You don't want overkill. Also, always pluck any strays before adding eye makeup. If eyebrows are not freshly groomed, adding highlight here will draw more attention to the hair folicals and trust me, this can ruin your entire look.

Bridge of Nose - Highlight should be a very fine line down the center of the bridge only. Do not highlight the ball of the nose.

Opinion: Personally, I find that highlighting here tends to be flattering on almost every woman I've come across (no matter the shape or size of the nose itself). Drawing attention to this area is great because this is the center of the face. This not only makes the nose appear more narrow but also slims the entire face as well. Also, When someone looks at the center of your face, they are less likely to notice imperfections and more likely to notice your eyes and lips :]

Cheekbones - Right above the apples at the very top of the cheekbone

Opinion: Again, this is another place that in most cases seems to flatter all women. Highlighting the cheekbones will make them appear more raised and dimensional therefore giving all of us girls the appearance of perfect bone structure. However, if you find you have slightly larger pores here, a matte finish highlight should be used. Applying any shimmery products will only make the pores appear larger and more prominent.

Collar Bones - On top of each side of the collar bones

Opinion: Every woman should give this one a try. I find this draws attention to the neckline and gives the appearance of better posture, What women (or man) doesn't find that attractive?

Disclosure: All of the tips mentioned above are solely my opinions. Statements are not intended to be taken too literally by any of my readers. I am not yet a licensed professional in the area of makeup and all information provided here-in is based off of personal experience.
